Belize Mission Team #455 Highlights
June 4-14, 2005
What God did through us- during our 10 days in Belize

-Construction Ministry

-Constructed Covered Bus Stops for Roaring Creek Village
-Built Storage Shelves for “My Refuge” Mission center and organized storage rooms
-Painted and cleaned a room in the Roaring Creek Community Center
-Plumbed in a bathroom in men’s dorm at “My Refuge”- sink, toilet, shower, and fixed various leaks, put in sink faucets, and plumbed shower drains to the outside access.

- Vacation Bible School

-Taught VBS to Roaring Creek Village Children after regular school hours, groups of 20-54 kids would come to hear the Bible Lesson, do crafts and activities
- Our Belize kid’s VBS was centered around the Lamb of God, Jesus the Good Shepherd, Salvation, and Luke 4: 18-19 -- stressing “to Proclaim the Year of the Lord’s favor.” Group child evangelism is just breaking ground in Roaring Creek, Belize.
-Day 3 of VBS- the salvation message - 6 y.o. Luis wanted Jesus to come into His heart. We sat together and precious little Luis asked Jesus to become the Lord and savior of his life. Interestingly, 3 moms were sitting in the doorway for VBS, observing activities and visiting. I went to the door and asked if any of them were Luis’s mom. One was! I told her Luis asked Jesus into his heart. She smiled at me and said- “Luis has not been able to sleep the last two nights”. I told her I believed the Lord had been stirring Luis’s heart, and that she could pray over Luis “sweet sleep” from Jesus, and Jesus would sing over Luis as he slept. She thanked me, and was gracious for the Evangicube I gave her, with the salvation message, and sat back down and visited with the other moms.

- Community Church Outreaches

-Visited 3 area churches in Roaring Creek Village: The Nazarene Church, Pastor Gentil’s Church, and the Tea Kettle Church. Taught Kid’s Sunday School in the Nazarene Church.
-Tim Senft, Staci Bowman, Melanie Nelson, Jason Hicks, and Luke Kenner shared personal testimonies of accepting the Lord Jesus as Savior and of God’s healing, miracles, power and presence in their lives. We also stressed the Power of our God who saves and heals us from all infirmities.
-The power of God was mighty!!!! We taught the Belizeans “The Lamb is Holy” song the Lord gave us, we were blessed over and over again.
-The Belize team #455 shared praise and worship songs, with guitar (Becca Nysewanders- STEM trainee) and hand drums (Jason Hicks) accompanists :
“Show Your Power” (W & M by Kevin Prosch ©1991, Mercy Vineyard Publishing)
“Blessed Be Your Name” (Tree63)
“The Lamb is Holy” (a song given by God to Melanie Nelson Feb 2005 for Belize),
“Agnus Dei” (Michael W. Smithă1990 Milene Music, Inc.)
(with drama acted out of Jesus’ life, healings, death, resurrection & power)
“You Are So Good to Me” (W & M by Don Chaffer, Ben & Robin Pasley. ă1999
Blue Renaissance Music)

- Every House for Christ- Door to Door Evangelism

-Two days our Belize Team #455 went door to door in Roaring Creek Village with local nationals and people from Pastor Gentil’s church and My Refuge Ministry: praying for needs, sharing the Gospel, asking people if they wanted Jesus in their lives, and connecting them with local area churches.
-Four of the people we ministered to- asked the Lord Jesus to come into their hearts.

- Prison Ministry

-Jason Hicks, Luke Kenner, Staci Bowman, Becca Nysewanders, & Melanie Nelson visited the Hattiesburg Prison under the direction of Richard Smith
-We shared our personal testimonies, and what the Lord had given us to share with the HIV positive inmate’s support group- How much the Lord loves each one of them and to draw near to Him, and He will draw near to them.
-We sang accapella with them “Your Love Oh Lord” (3rd Day) and prayed with each inmate
-2 inmates shared their testimonies with us, one- Emerson was a drug dealer and was working on restoring relationships with those he had hurt. Emerson was very tearful, remorseful, and “emotional” and was working through some tough issues. Emerson had escaped jail twice, and on the second escape attempt had been shot in the chest by prison officials. He had recovered, and shared many scriptures of God’s faithfulness and saving him from the muck and the mire, and setting his feet on a firm path.

- Nursing Home and Prison Care Packets

-Tim Senft, Kathy LaGue, and Melanie Nelson contributed items and assembled personal hygiene care packets for the area nursing homes and prison HIV support group.

- Salvation

When tallying up the numbers at the end of our Belize mission, we presented a clear cut picture of the Salvation/Gospel message to about 250 people, and 5 people accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This was done in outreaches to churches, door to door evangelism and prayer, VBS, prison outreach, and services in the community. God has a perfect plan, and many seeds were planted. The harvest is plentiful, and I sense not to get focused on numbers, but on His infinite love, mercy, and restoration.

- Scripture Themes for Q107 Belize Team #455

John 14:12- (King James Version)
12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
John 1:29 (King James Version)
29The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

- Scriptural Follow-up:

During prayer in February 2005, I sensed the Lord remind me of the scripture in which Jesus came toward John the Baptist- John 1:29. I sensed Him tell me it was for Belize, I was to tell them- Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Not just the sin of Belize, but the sin of the world. We preached this message in testimony and song to the places the Lord sent us to in Belize- churches, prison, & outreaches.
